What happens next?
The results will be reported to the Constitutional Issues Committee on Monday 11th July 2022.
The Consultation findings will then go to Full Council at Liverpool Town Hall on Wednesday, 20th July 2022, where all of the city’s 90 councillors will vote on whether to change governance arrangements. The result of that vote will be legally binding.
A referendum on whether to change governance arrangements was ruled out by Full Council, on cost grounds, it was estimated a referendum would cost £450k.
Any change in governance will take effect from the elections in May 2023, and will be binding on the Council for five years.
